please someone help i have the above gas central heating fitted and just cant figure out how to set it to timer. i have in past had 4 heating engineers from the housing association i rent from, come out to ask theri only for them to say they dont know either. i have had the page on the timer bit downloaded from net and studied that but i must be thick. 14 years i have lived here and am embarrased to say had always left it to my then husband. i have left it on factory settings as when i try to put ones i want on it gets even more complicated as i can have 14 or something silly on or offs. i have put both switches to automatic with thermostat just past the click but nothing. gets so cold during night and being disabled is difficult getting up to switch it on when the cold has made me practically cease up. does anyone have one that could draw me a childfriendly map of what to do or maybe point me to someone who can please before i need someone to chip me off the bed

Hi.
On AUTO it will not let you have heat on overnight. The preset times won't allow it.
If you look at the programmer, go to the top left selector which has
I AUTO 0
Move the the little switch left to' I '
That will give you central heating 24/7.
You can now turn the room stat up to get heat.
Overnight, before bed, leave it on a lower temp say17 degrees? in the morning turn it up to say 20 degrees? Or whatever you feel comfortable with.
You need a friend or relative to go through the setting of the times if you want it to run on 'AUTO' as it's so much easier to do in front of the boiler.

dont really want it on 24/7 am happy to stick to preset for now which is better than i have now so what do i push for that the preset is on 6.30 off 8.30 on 16.30 off 22.30 but cant remember if both switches need to be set to auto the one you mentioned and the other one think its the time set one and also cant remember on the thermostat if i have to leave it on which is when you turn it just past the click or off which is just before the click ooo hope you still there0 -
Hi.
Ok, to use the preset programme set both switches to 'AUTO.'
I thought you wanted heat overnight.
The room stat will not work (and will not tell the boiler to work) between the hours of 10.30 at night to 6.30 in the morning, because the programmer will not let it.

we have both on auto all i need to know now is what i should do with thermostat i am assuming i turn it on which is just past the click sound 20 i think and leave it on like that all the time as the timer on boiler will then turn it on and off am assumiong if i switch thermostat down to off nought the timer will not be able to switch on heating0 -
Hi.
You are correct ,if the room stat is at 20, as long as the programmer is on ,it will heat the room to 20.
As I said ,I got the impression you wanted heat over night to prevent you freezing to the bedsheets?

that would have been a definite plus the other night but generally it going off at 10.30 is sufficient. thanks for your help but i think i must be doing something wrong or its playing up because i have both switches set at auto and the thermostat is just past the click so in theory it should have turned itself on as it not due to turn off until 10.30 but nothing radiator not come on pilot not come on and it works ok when in the constant position so i dont know whats going on but thanks for trying guess its another night of me having to manually get downstairs well on my chair downstairs and turn it on myself0 -
