50% Off Train Tickets until 10/02/2007

Hi there,

Further to the information I posted in the Rail Promotion codes, I want to share the following offer with you guys.

This offer is for half price rail tickets (excludes season tickets, flexipass, rovers etc, but it good for advance purchase tickets) from ScotRail which can be booked for up until April (not sure what date).

To take advantage of the offer, you need to be a member of ScotRail's loyalty club, Advantage.

Once you are a member (see below) you can then log into the Advantage web page, and view the special offers. Using the special offers page, you can book your ticket as normal, and then the 50% will be deducted at the last step of the process.

To join Advantage:
Go to hxxp://www.firstgroup.com/scotrail/advance/applynow.php
Fill in the required fields, but be sure to include an email and a password as these are needed to be able to log into the site once registered.
Further down the page, it will ask about the type of ticket you have. I entered a 5 digit number into the first class/business class ticket option.

You will get an email saying you can log into the Advance site. Log in with the email and password and then select Offers from the right hand menu. You will see a link to take you to the 50% off bookings link.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks. Do you think this will work like the last Scotrail promotion and work on all tickets in the uk? I got quite a long way through a booking but am worried I'll find I have actually paid for them before I can check the price:o I know it shouldn't happen but I think I have been caught like that before as I am a registered user and I am not 100% sure which day I want to travel on.
  • Haven't had a proper look at it all yet, but when registering if you just click 'other' for what type of ticket you have, along with your address etc.. that's all you need to put in. Just clicking submit after that says thanks for your application.

    :)
  • I'm going to try and clarify how exactly this offer works. The reason I ask, is that section on the website where you are able to select the discounted fares, some other items are limited to a certain number of clicks. So I don't want to price something, then go back with no option to purchase tickets.

So once the Advance member's line (which I am already a member) is back open, then I'll see what their response to that is.

The discount is on any fare. You make your rail booking as you would on the trainline.com, and when it comes to the end when you submit payment you will see 50% marked off the price. You will see the discount before you click submit to pay, but it will be on the last screen. The ticket doesn't have to be starting or stopping in Scotland. This is like the last ScotRail promotion, which I believe was the Hope Exhibition thingy.

Thanks worked brilliantly - used the last first scotrail trick that lets you book with a railcard too. (put ticket in basket first - then book)
  • My email says that my application is being processed. I don't have a link to the advanced site

Try http://www.firstgroup.com/scotrail/advance/index.php, then click the 'Login' link on the top right, then just use the email address and password you registered with.

    Lellie - brill tip!
  • I have a slight problem ...

I have my tickets in hand but they are for my daughter in Liverpool. If I post them tomorrow I know she won't get them in time (uni mail goes all over the place). Can she travel so long as I produce the tickets at the other end?
    de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar ;)
