Lol sorry mate, I was being sarcastic about asking the employer to help towards the taxi......They would have to be a very generous employer to do that! The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Some firms do have a contract with local taxi firms - it might be worth asking if you could at least get a taxi home. Other than that, hope someone gives you a little cash for Christmas. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0

So annoying especially as another section of the store ( who are quiet on boxing day) all the staff there get the day off.

It's still worth checking about buses as every area is different. Just because I said that my area is the same as a Sunday service doesn't necessarily mean yours is! Did it really not cross your mind until now that you would need transport into work when you are working on a local or public holiday?Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

i understand what you mean, ive not heard of an employer offering to help with the cost of a taxi but some firms are more friendlier than others and are more flexible in helping the staff but they are rare in my experience.0 -

To be fair if it was a one of I would pick one of my staff up on the day even if it meant a bit out of my way...nothing like christmas Cheer and all that!
OP what about asking a colleague for a lift and chucking them a bit of fuel money? The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

There is only one other member of staff who lives anywhere nea me and it would still add an extra 5 miles onto her journey so don't think she would do it
