Recorded delivery is currently 77p. I used to send always first class recorded (I haven't been on ebay for a while)

Add this amount to your p+p costs or add it to your start price if you do free p+p.
  • Having a reasonably good month so far. Biggest earner is my new online jewellery shop I've launched off the back of my blog, made over £100 with it so far this month.
If anyone is thinking of selling new or good quality vintage/second hand clothes or jewellery online, I'd recommend ASOS marketplace. It's where I'm selling through and I think most of my sales are from people browsing the site and not from blog readers (as I have a discount code on my blog and barely any orders have used it.) It's a 10% fee on every purchase (not including postage) so pretty similar to using eBay buy-it-now, but without the extra BIN charge.
I've made almost £50 on eBay this month too. Can't wait to get home from uni at Easter and list all the junk I've got lying around and make some more!

I've just found out I've got a job for after graduation :D So de-cluttering via eBay will help me downsize for moving out into my own place in July, and having enough money to do so!

    Well done you :T:T:T:T

Thanks again Cally! Think I'll insist on them all going recorded delivery then. It's such a shame, I was making good money as all my books are immaculate, but it just had to come to an end as I hadn't been selling long and the negative feedback really lowered my score.

Just reading Gill and Cally's discussion regarding eBay postage, be careful with recorded delivery as its only really proof that you posted the item... I made that mistake, post office as good as told me its no better than getting free 'proof of postage' when you post any item as it cannot actually be traced - only way of tracking properly is with Special dleivery which is really expensive in my opinion (extra £4+ I think).

Also I hope you claimed back the cost of the lost item from Royal Mail - takes a few weeks but they have always coughed up for me, touch woodI've not had anything go missing for a while.

With regards to negative feedback on eBay, there is always one person waiting to spoil things for you but I think buyers are getting wise to this now, always back up any negative feedback with a comment to say how you tried to resolve that way any buyer can look and see that you are pretty decent after all!

Good luck - eBay isnt as lucrative as it used to be but not found anything that comes close yet....

Thanks for all the advice Mizzamee!

It's mainly books I have to sell, and I suppose a car boot or table sale might fetch me £1 a book if I can push it. I'm being silly, but it really grates on me to let them go too cheap, as they are literally immaculate after I have read them - most of them could probably go back the shop as they don't even have cracks down the spine ha ha

Can people direct to some good info on things like the surveys etc? Or even if anyone has done any affiliate marketing that would be great too!
