  • Hi,
we are in a similar situation to you (aged 31) - six months ago felt it would be impossible to think about starting a family, however we are now preparing for one with the advice and information from this sites and others - check out https://www.stretcher.com which has articles about people downsizing and becoming one income families (us site but still useful) also doing google searches on downshifting or one income family would help.
someone posted in response to my question it takes 9 months to have a baby - so you have at the very least that time for preparation! (and thats if all goes to plan). I am in the early stages of having gynae things investigated so its likely to be abit longer than 9 months

I think preparation is the biggest thing... figuring where are now and what you would need financially to cope when you know thoes things you can start making a workable plan as well as getting your head around it.

My advice would be to investigate the different things you could do to make it happen but dont wait... once time is spent you cant get it back....
please pm me if you want to talk further
:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j
  • Can't see how you're going to struggle when we earn less, but have the same outgoings you state (Same amount for Mortgage and credit card etc). We still manage to save. We're a lot younger, have a decent car, have things go wrong all the time, lol, the usual things life holds. We can still afford luxuries too.

Jake was born at midday on 13th Feb weighing 7lbs 13oz. All went very well. He is a very happy and contented little chap. Be great to hear how everyone else is getting on.
