I'd ring the company you're currently insured with. Every time I've done that they've done me a deal.
Aviva gave me the equivalent of full no claims immediately, with the proviso that if I leave them after 1 year, they will tell the next insurer I had one year NCD. If I leave after two years, they'll tell them I have full NCD.
Sounds very fair to me.0 -

i wanted to insure a ford fiesta 1.1 1997 and the quote has come back to £1200 a year!!!!!! i believe i cannot use my no claims on any other car this is a joke its alot of money for a small engine car
does anyone have any ideas what to do???
Find a different insurer. Every one I've used to insure a second car have given a discount equal to the NCB on the main car. Try Chris Knott.
But as others have said, if she is the main driver on one of the vehicles and you are saying you are, then that is fronting which is insurance fraud and illegal. If the insurance company get wind, they'd refuse to pay you out in a claim and persue you for anything they had to pay out to a third party.0 -
Just a deduction, since the OP is using their NCB on this vehicle, that would tend to suggested they have taken the insurance out based on them being the main driver. Coupled with the fact they need a second car presumeably because their partner is driving the first one most of the time. You conclude it is fronting based on the OP saying her partner "uses" the car? How do you know that the OP hasn't listed her partner as the main driver?
Perhaps the OP would like to clarify...0 -
Many companies will either "mirror" youe existing no claims on the second car, or else you can get a "multicar" policy.
There's no problem with both of you driving both cars. We have two cars, We drive either or depending on what we're doing or where we're going. To say it would be "fronting" based on one or other person using the car more would be ridiculous - it would be the other way around next month.
For example many moon ago we had an Audi 80 - My wife was actually the main insured as she needed business insurance, and they wouldn't do that for the named driver, only the priciple insured. But it remained registered to me and I actually drove it more. THis was all explained to the insurance company and they didn't ahve a probelm with it.
Just phone around, start out with your current insurer, And try a few multicar deals. You;ll be able to get both cars insured as you need for a decent price. Just make sure you don't tell any porkies or you could be left in a very sticky position.0
