How can you tell how well its selling?

The reviews btw seem to indicate that as its a Pocket PC, you can install whatever GPS software you like, and Tomtom is mentioned a lot.

(Ignore that first line - I just spotted where the Stock level is! :D)

    Great! Thanks :)

I think the specs say the GPS is built into the cradle, the reveiws mention this is a problem for on-foot use.

I've found this item on ebay cheaper, but the auctions are a couple of days away from ending - Im torn between buying or not to be honest...!

Just found this - hope the link works...

Specs of the PDA itself. Quite useful compared to the reviews. Seems to have a USb & Serial port, which is good. No mention of a port for internet connection if you're in a Non-wifi enviroment, which is a shame.
  • Here is another review, I put my brother off this as a result.

You can get much better pda's than this and of course much better route mapping software.

does anybody know if tom tom speed camera alert software can be installed on PDAs along with TomTom software? :)

the unit seems to be selling fast on ebuyer..

You can install the camera database as Points of Interest (POIs). You can set TomTom to warn about POIs by type whether you are on a route or not .

You can get them here for a small fee (£2 i think):

You may be able to get them elsewhere for free though.
    Thanks

It is also only QVGA, not great for browsing.

Well, I've settled for NOT buying in the end. Having a PC with Wifi that gets bad reviews for its Internet Explorer usability, seems a bit of a waste, as its the main thing I'd use it for (GPS second, the cradle gets a fair bit of stick in the reveiws.)

to be fair, when you get items such as this which combine phones, computers, sat navs, cameras etc etc they aren't going to be perfect for everything. This is an excellent price for a PDA with Sat Nav kit/compatibility, use it with TomTom for an excellent package which would be a very good organiser as well.
I've a Smartphone with SatNav at the moment but am going for this for the larger screen, the fact that TomTom mobile 6 will never happen and that the smartphone is too heavy to cart around ;)

Horses for courses as they say..........

i think you've made the correct decision there, why on earth the manufacturers think people would want to surf the net on a 3.5" screen is beyond me
