Non paying buyer on buy it now?

Hi,
sorry - did a search but couldn't find anything. I so know this question would have been asked before somewhere
I sold an item on buy it now on 30th Jan. I emailed the buyer on 31st asking them to pay via paypal as soon as possible so I could dispatch the item. I have still had no reply and no payment.
How long should I leave it before reporting it as an unpaid item. I had a look on ebay and cannot see a guideline for time.
I find it odd that people dont pay immediately with BIN - It seems the most obvious thing to do! Why can't it ever be simple :rotfl:
EDIT - I've just looked at the buyers feedback which was 100% positive on the day the purchased. They now have 1 neg with 'buyer didn't pay' so i'm now thinking its not going to happen but should I give it a bit more time?
Thanks in advance for your replies

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

You have to wait 7 days before starting a dispute.
I sell the vast majority of my items BIN and it is surprising the number of people who take several days to pay for the items. You just have to get used to it.
Edited to Add: I usually wait 5 days, then send them a polite e-mail reminder, then wait a further 3 - 5 days before starting the dispute.0 -

I'm really suprised that people who 'BIN' literally dont
Thanks - I'm impatient and want my pennies but will wait :rotfl:Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

This could be for a genuine reason (buyer taken ill, death in the family, computer breaking down, etc.), then again it might not. I guess all you can do is wait. If they get 3 strikes then their account will be suspended, and if this happens before the 7 days is up, you can claim your fees back then without waiting any longer.

It surprised me at first. Waiting a few hours, or even waiting untill the weekend if they are at work, maybe, but when it's 10 days or so, it's very strange.
I once had a buyer buy several BIN items and then go away on a backpacking trip for three weeks (without telling me). They were most irrate when they came home to find that I had filed a UID and given them a negative!

if suddenly they have started buying BIN and not paying it MIGHT also be someone has managed to hack their Ebay account but not their paypal are basically just buying radom bits and damaging their rep... Just a thought...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I did think about that when I saw it.
It's just because I'm not that patient but now I've thought about it they really should be given the benefit of the doubt.

If you only take paypal (and I'm assuming that is the case in this example) then you can set your BINs up to require immediate payment. That means that the buyer does not actually win the item and it stays live until they actually make a paypal payment.
I still offer cheques and bank transfers on my BIN items so it's no good for me.

Yoy will be surprised of how many people think that by using BIN that the item is theres, and do go away for whatever reason it is and think that when they get back they can pay for item and still recieve it.
If you want paying by paypal on BIN, make it immediate paymentMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -

I love this place - I've learnt something else new today
Maybe I should have known that already though
