How much is the DD each month - as you're already that much better off :j. Here's hoping the insurance company will be nice and refund you some premiums. Use your charm on them. If that fails, use tears ;).

Hope the wine was a money off deal, but on this board alcohol is generally seen as an unavoidable expense in times of stress :).

The wine is in your fridge already and it is calling your name so it would be wrong to ignore it :)

Having said that, there is a spare selection box up my stairs that just won't shut up and I have resisted it's calorific temptations so far :)

Some people have wine and I have noisy chocolate :o

Ooh, gallygirl, I was hoping to avoid telling everyone this!!! but I should have known better, complete honesty only on this forum :rotfl:Having said that, that's why I'm here and why I'm delighted I've found you all. The DD is for £52.80. I thought it was an insurance for something else entirely so didn't question it. Now I'm looking to reduce outgoings I'm questioning everything. So far the company have been excellent, very polite, respectful and helpful. Keeping my fingers crossed I get the outcome I'd like :D I'll keep you posted.

Yes, wine was on a deal, the only kind to buy!

freeby, I think you'll have to keep that selection box company. It's only going to shout louder if you don't ;)

Don't worry about not noticing the direct debit too much. You have now and that's what matters :)
We've all been there. I had a payment coming out of my account for weight watchers every month and I hadn't been anywhere near the site for about a year. I knew it was there but just never noticed it (IYSWIM) It's cancelled now but I couldn't claim it back - at least you are in that fortunate position :)

:( The insurance/DD is something else entirely. I knew it was too good to be true - I had visualised a nice little windfall to get my DFW journey started. Never mind, I'll just have to hunker down and get on with it. One step at a time.

    Positives for today:

Increased my tyre pressure and it seems to be working. It appears I've used less fuel today. I'll monitor it for the rest of this week and see what I think then.

I used a comparison website to switch my gas/elec. Not only have I got a lower tariff, it earned me £40 cashback and £100 Love2shop vouchers. I think I get both in about 3 months time :D The £40 cashback will go towards the overdraft. The Love2shop vouchers can be put towards birthday/Christmas pressies for people thus lowering my budgeted outgoings. :j
I think my main job tomorrow is to look at switching my phone/internet. Now I have a baseline of cashback/gifts I feel the need to do better. Could be my motto that, 'must do better'.:p

Not an NSD today. I put £10 of petrol in the car and spent 20p blowing up the tyres. Didn't finish work until later so I missed the pound shop. Feeling too frugal to give MrT the price he's asking for a card reader so I'll wait until tomorrow.

Good news from doc today. Everything looks OK so the worrying can stop :T Just 'age related' :( Anyway, I'm very happy with my age related stuff tonight :)

Have a good MSE day tomorrow x

Well, look on the bright side, at least you've not been wasting money every month. Now - can you get the same insurance cheaper elsewhere?

Glad you're just old and not ill :rotfl:.

gallygirl - yes, 'old' I can cope with:rotfl::rotfl:

Not a NSD today. £20 in petrol, 89p on a cup of tea and 20p on a reduced pecan pastry in my local supermarket cafe, 50p on a paper to read and £2 on a lottery ticket. Hmmm, I'll have to think about this. The tea and pastry was good at the time but did I really need it? It could have been money in my sealed pot :(. A spending diary makes you face the truth doesn't it?

I reckon I got approx 53 miles for my £10 of petrol yesterday. That doesn't seem very much to me. I'll have to do some research on this and see if I can increase my mpg.

I haven't made a decision on my phone/internet yet. There are some good deals out there but I need to think about it a bit more.

Keeping a close eye on my petrol! I'm driving with much more awareness now ;) Also, I might be getting moved with my work and that will involve much more travel to get to the new job - about 35 miles a day

I went to Lidl's tonight to buy pizza. Three salami pizzas for £2.89 and the boys love them :j I also picked up some unwaxed lemons, 3 for 69p. A good buy for unwaxed lemons I thought even though they were an impulse buy:( Never mind, I'll make something nice with them, maybe a lemon sponge or lemon meringue pie. So total spend today was £3.58.

My son made me dinner tonight :) His own concoction of chicken, tomatoes, onions and mushrooms with rice. He flavoured it with different herbs. It was very nice :) but he tells me the dishes are waiting  Oh well, dinner was good :)

I'm loving reading different diaries on here. I always feel so inspired to continue working towards being DF. I know it's going to be a long haul but I've started now and with the help of others on here I know I'll get there.

I've listed some things on ebay so I'm looking forward to seeing if there are any buyers :) I'll keep you posted.

NSD yesterday :j I've noticed that I feel really challenged to open my purse these days. How I wish I'd felt more like this over the last few years, then I wouldn't be in the position I am now!!

The big consideration just now is whether to take a payment holiday from my mortgage. I'm allowed up to 3 months. I'm on a fixed rate of 5.99% until March then on to the bank's SVR so I'm hoping it will go down. Current monthly payments are :eek: £1001 :eek:

I would like to use this money to clear a cc debt of £3089. Interest on this card is 30%.

Would it make sense to do this? Has anyone got any experience of this? It would make a difference to my monthly budgeting if I didn't have to fork out for this cc every month. Any advice greatfully received :)

Have a good MSE day :)
