EDF Energy: upping direct debits by random, huge & unnecessary amounts

£45 pcm seems very low. Is that gas and electric? Do you know your typical annual consumption figures? you need to base the DD on that, then you have solid grounds to refute any changes EDF try to impose.
If you just pay what seems reasonable or what you have always paid, you will end up with a huge amount owing which you will have to pay off later.
The other tip is do not keep inputting readings - this simply triggers their dysfunctional random DD amount generator (actually not random as it's always upwards) .0
