Apparently its as bad as going through the x-ray at an airport.
The worse thing about that trial is having 2 canulars in your arm.

I'd forgotten I'd made this thread!
I haven't signed up to any trials.... yet! But I haven't ruled it out either. I can think of worse ways of trying to earn a bit of extra cash.
Strangely, I've stopped hearing the radio ad that prompted me to start this thread. Not sure if that's a sign for me not to do it now or maybe they've signed up enough guinea pigs!
Anyone else had/got any experiences in this money making adventure?

I have done a few medical trials. They sound scarier than they are in most cases.
Testing drugs is something I probably wouldn't do unless offered vast sums of money. I have done psychological trials, which can be simple things like giving your response to a set of pictures on a screen, or having a chat with a partner under observation. Also vaccine trials, for diseases which have known vulnerability to antibiotics.
I am hesitant to reveal details on the forums, but have made about £3500 in total. Definitely worth doing, and nothing I have taken part in has had any significant risk.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”0 -

I knew someone who did this and it worked out well, the company name was covance. All it was taking medication at a different time. However there was other side effects that affected us. Hence the ex part! He had some overnight stays as well involved!0

Thanks Whitelabel. I'll put the links in my first post for future reference.
Thanks EllaBeagle, that was the case I was thinking of in my first post. Not all of the trials are about invasive procedures like pills and jabs there are some safe ones too as Davew and EdgEy have mentioned above.
Thanks for sharing your experiences EdgEy and Camuk.

I've signed up for this as im trying to get a deposit for a house
girlfriend isn't happy at all with me doing any of the drugs trials lol.
From what i can gather weneedyou.com is a phase 1/2 drug testing company which means......
Phase 1: Tests a drug after its been tested on animals and undergone rigoourous testing in the lab. YOU ARE THE FIRST HUMANS TO TRIAL THE DRUG.
Phase 2: Tests a drug designed to deal with YOUR illness/disease. So if you have a certain disease/condition/illness then you will be used for this trial.
The reason you are so highly paid <£3k is because sometimes the s*** does hit the fan and it can quickly become life threatening, as above link shows. However, there are strict lines of approach and several phases of testing in the product before it gets to us. You also have to deal with any side effects which isnt pleasant in itself.
I'v trialled one drug for the dental hospital because they were trying a new blend of painkiller with ibuprofen to deal with medium-high pain relief. Guess who got the placebo drug and had to deal with having a wisdom tooth out on no pain relief. Bonus was i got paid £150 for the operation and only had to stay after for an hour rather than 4 because that was the minimum time you had to be there for. Btw if you got confused with no anaesthetic then thats not the case, it was the aftercare they were trialling.
To the postee who said they'd only do sleep depravation and diet testing, i severely doubt you'd find many doing this sort of experiment, even if you did it would not be very well paid in comparison to drug testing. I know the OP's links are definately DRUG testing companies and not anything else.
My 2 cents worth :j8k/13k for 2013!0 -

Russ, the trial gone wrong is the only one I've heard of. I guess that doesn't mean that others haven't gone wrong, just that they didn't go SO badly wrong. I wonder though, after that incident. if the rules and regulations were tightened a bit. I mean, what clinic would WANT that to happen? Good luck with your deposit.
Kiote, that sounds like the perfect trial for me, the thought of being able to sit around doing nothing for a week sounds blissful, though I'm guessing I am seeing the grass on the other side of the fence a bit greener than it actually is?
I'm not able to do any residential trials yet and tbh trying to book time off work is a nightmare atm so I haven't signed up for any yet. I'm almost certain that I will though.
