Are flight sales likely to cover Easter?

Need to book flights to the USA for Easter holidays. Can be a bit flexible on dates.

We were going to use Virgin miles but no flights available at reasonable rate.

Do we book now or wait a couple of weeks and hope for a flight sale at Christmas/New Year? Are the savings usually good and is there much choice of dates and destinations?

Many thanks for any tips.

Do you think the flights you want to go on will have better than average demand in the school holidays?

Possibly. We want to fly London/San Francisco. I am willing to take kids out of school for a couple of days either side of the holiday if necessary.

The first sale fares that are loaded are usually BA's, they start appearing on their website before Christmas,
perhaps as early as Wed 21st Dec, in about two weeks time.

They are usually there before the red sale banners appear on their website, there is often a heads up in this forum when they start appearing.

So perhaps check the current cheapest BA prices that you can currently find and then wait for the sale to see if they are reduced. Be careful that you are checking non stop prices and not indirect ones via Madrid on IBeria or Chicago on American Airlines.
