Sky+ HD for £4 per Month?

Recently while on the phone to Sky I was offered an Upgrade from Sky+ to Sky+ HD for only an extra £4 per month (for the first year) and free HD box. All the paper work I received talked about £10.25 per month (normal cost). So I sent customer service an Email asking them to confirm my deal to which their reply was an Email full of gobblydegook but I think was implying I could not cancel. I sent them a second Email asking them to simply confirm what the cost per month was of my HD option. Another Email full of gobbledegook came back but this one seemed to suggest there would be no charge for my HD. :mad:
I just wondered if anybody else had been offered/given the same deal? - as I remember it was because I only subscribe to sports and not Movies.

I figure that if Sky is going to supply the Formula One channel “free” to those who don’t subscribe to the Sports channels but do subscribe to HD, it isn’t planning simply to abolish the supplemental fee for HD entirely in the near future.

Sky has to find from somewhere the £40million a year it is going to be paying Ecclesh*t for Formula One.

Sky seems basically to operate on a basis of offering a few favours to most people who push for it and those favours come in various different forms. What Sky looks at is the total amount of discount it is giving to any particular subscriber.

When we were offered a 50% discount for a year on our Sky TV channels subscription, I thought it would be pushing it a bit to ask for the HD free, as well. We’d only have been paying £10 a month for the whole lot, including Formula One in HD!

In principle, however, were it not for the “free” Formula One in 2012 for HD subscribers, I think the whole idea of charging any supplement at all, let alone £123 a year, to watch one’s chosen channels in HD stinks and is totally unjustifiable. You don't, after all, have to pay a greater licence fee to watch the terrestrial channels in HD.

If the HD was free, I’d be prepared to pay £123 a year for the Formula One. I don’t think it’s fair to ask BBC licence payers who don’t watch Formula One to fork out a fortune just to enable the Ecclepebbles to be lavished with bling.

You are likely to have to sign up for the full charge. You have to agree to this in most cases as that is what they will charge you after the 12 month period. In effect you are paying £10.25 but getting an £6.25 discount for the first 12 payments.
