So mad - Talk Talk charged me £50 for connection and won't refund it!

I am so sick of Talk Talk! I recently moved home and was told that it would be free to transfer my service. Their website also states this: http://help.talktalk.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/2073/p/1757/r_id/113152.

However, they have just send me my first bill and I have been charged £50 for connection (I pay by direct debit). The first person I called said I would get it refunded in three months time. I then phoned back and demanded it be refunded immediately. I was told I wasn't entitled to a refund! Another phone call and they said I'd get it in three months. I am so mad  as they have also charged me at my old address for a month after I left. Any suggestions how I can get my money back from these idiots? I can't face constant phone calls to Delhi!

Raise your concern there. The OCE will be able to give you their official response. Telephone support (even email support) appear to be a complete joke - and not even a funny one. (Ironic really given that TT are a communications company. :rotfl: )

Did you specifically use the Home Mover scheme?
  • Thanks I'll try that. Yes, I did use the home mover scheme. I also have it in a letter that the connection fee is: £0.00. I was told, just now, by Talk Talk that it is free but they charge you £50 and then refund you in three months time! What's to stop them charging £1,000 fee and then returning it when they feel like? I have told them I want to make a formal complaint but I doubt if I'll get anywhere.

Talk Talk make me laugh! Most of their schemes involve paying something now then getting a cheque back in x amount of time it's just a joke. Either charge the higher price, or the lower one, simple.

    Hi Dorsetlady,

At Present the home move fee is being weaived so this charge should not have been incurred.

we can look into this if you tweet us @TalkTalkCare or register on the TalkTalk Members Forum where we can provide full account and service support.

  • Thank you Mark. I posted this on the Talk Talk Members Forum yesterday - I wasn't budgeting for this and want my money back NOW not in three months time.

Report them to Ofcom, Otelo, watchdog etc. Maybe another 3 million fine by Ofcom will make them sort themselves out.

If you get no joy, email there CEO Dido Harding dido.harding@talktalkplc.com I'm sure she loves getting emails about poor customer service.
  • Thank you I'll do that. As well as this connection fee they also took money from my direct debit for the month after I had moved house. I was told I would be refunded this money in 72 hours - that has passed and, of course, they haven't returned it!
  • Just read that article - they are still billing customers after closing their accounts - they did this to me!

call your bank - the bank will refund your direct debit immediately under the guarantee. Far quicker than getting SlowSlow to refund it...
  • I have just phoned Santander and they are refunding the amount that Talk Talk took from me after I moved house under the Direct Debit Guarantee. I spent half an hour on the phone to Talk Talk and then got cut off! I'm feel like I'm going to have a breakdown! :( I have spent HOURS on the phone to India over the past couple of weeks!
