do I wanna buy a kindle?

Kindle is absolutely worth it - I got one for my commute (when I used public transport, now I read at lunchtimes/evenings) after I bought one for my mum last xmas. She's a massive reader and she absolutely loves it. As for reading it in the bath...depends how confident you are of not dropping it! That, or seal it in a plastic bag...0

I decided to go for the cheaper option. I have set it up and downloaded some of the free books on to it. My husband has now wrapped it up and I will not be getting it back until my birthday. Still, at least I can then use it right away.
It was easy to set up but I am not sure what it will be like to read from as I have not had a chance to do that yet.0 -

To be honest I wouldn't take my precious kindle in the bath! Anyway I do still buy books from time to time - because there are some you can't get on kindle, and sometimes I pick up an interesting book in a charity shop. Those are the ones I'd read in the bath (though I don't really do that anyway).
Interestingly, I do also sometimes buy a book that I have loved so much on Kindle, that I wanted the 'real' version for my bookshelf. This is more likely to apply to the sort of book that I enjoy dipping into - poetry, spiritual books, recipes, that sort of thing. But that doesn't detract from my enjoyment of my kindle, not one jot. Where else could I have a whole library of 300+ books, all categorised and waiting to be slipped into my pocket and enjoyed whenever I find myself with a few minutes/hours to spare - and with the added benefit of being able to log on and buy a particular book at 3am, and start reading it straight away, if I so wish.
I LOVE my kindle!!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
From someone who was dead against e-readers. I hereby state that I'm eating my words - I LOVE MY KINDLE!0

I bought a Kindle last year. I have just acquired an Ipad - I asked for vouchers for a recent big birthday - and have the Kindle app on it. As soon as I downloaded the Kindkle app, all my Kindle purchased books appeared on the Ipad version.
So to anyone who has not yet bought a Kindle and can see themselves getting an Ipad in the near fututre, I would advise that they don't need both.Born to shop;)0 -
I spent the early part of this morning trying to decide between a Kindle and a Kobo, i eventually chose the latter and bought a Kobo Touch @ £97.00. It's a wee bit more expensive than the Kindle but it's meant to be right up there with the Kindle and in some respects, a better buy. I too was dead against eReaders initially but i've slowly come around and seeing as Santa ignored my request i figured i'd treat myself. The Kobo comes pre-loaded with 100 books and i've had a good rummage to check that my favourite authors are listed in the store (they are) so i took a deep breath and dived in...
I'm still going to keep my books because there's no way i'd venture into the Bath with my new toy but i fear my paper pals are about to be consigned to history.
Review of the Kobo Touch, others are available.

I got a Kindle for Christmas and LOVE it!
Very simple to set up - I was up and running in about five minutes and had downloaded books straight to the Kindle over wifi.
The screen is amazing, it's almost like it's a sticker and not real!
So small and light, easily pops into a handbag. I do need to get a cover with it, and also a light so I can read in bed without disturbing OH or in the car in the dark, but I've had a look online and these aren't overly expensive for nice ones.
I'm so looking forward to my next holiday when I can take my Kindle. Usually I'll take four or five thick books on holiday which are obviously bulky and heavy, and I read them all at least once, if not twice on holiday. With my Kindle I'll have access to 1000s of books for less than the size and weight of a thick glossy magazine.0
