I would take the advice of just use your insurers with a pinch of salt.
It is often by people who have never had such an incident to deal with.
If they get wind, your premiums will rocket year on year.
The obligations of notifying insurance companies are contractual, civil and not law.

No brainer if you ask me. Pay for his repair and don't tell the insurance companies. He won't want it to go through insurance for the same reason you wouldn't - it would be an accident that you would both have to declare for years to come, and thus increase your premiums for years to come. So I would think it very unlikely that the minibus owner would run to the insurance after you have paid for his repair.

Of course this course of action is not what you are supposed to do, but I guess its down to how well you would be able to sleep at night knowing you have robbed your insurance company of extra money. Not something that I would have any problem with.

if the bill is £300 when the matter is concluded you can reimburse your insurer and thereby retain your NCD.
I didn't know you could do that.

Yep, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t have to repay all the outlay of your insurance company not just the cost of the repairs and I’m sure it would only get you your NCB back and wouldn’t avoid the premium loading you’ll get for being involved in an accident
