Random Claim Call - suspicious please help allay my fears

Hi there
a quick bit of background, my dh had affair 6 months ago, which has finished and we are moving on. However, friday he came home from work and said he had had a phone call from a private number from a guy claiming to be calling from a car claims company relating to an accident we had had some year and half ago.
I thought it a bit suss at the time but forgot all about it.
Apparently the guy was gonna call him back monday for more details. DH was actually off work Monday, and the call never came.
However yesterday (tuesday) he returned from work saying he had had another private number call from the same guy, wanting to know car reg, etc name of insurance company we were with, and telling him he was entitled to compensation.
My problem is this:
The accident claim was originally in MY name, not his.
It was sorted over a year and a half ago.
Due to his affair, he changed his mobile number back in July, so they simply couldnt have traced him through this. We did advertise a car for sale on gumtree a few weeks ago, with his number and christian name only registered.
I am worried that the phone call made to him was by the OW, i dont actually believe that he has made contact himself, but i do worry that she has called him and he panicked thinking i would check his phonem, see a private number and not believe him. (as you can tell i currently have a trust thing going on!)
He then concocted this tale of a call from a claims company......

OR

He could be telling the truth, but then how on earth would they get his mobile number? He cannot remember if they adderssed him by name or if they simply said that he had had an accident they can help with. I so want to believe him

Advice anyone?:(
:happyhear Not everyones cup of tea, but just right for me!! :coffee:

Insurance companies sell on details to 'claims management' companies, it happens all the time.

Stop worrying. These ambulance chasers are the same sort who advertise all the time on day time television. Just ignore them.

These companies spam out to thousands of mobiles in the hope someone will bite.

If it was the OW, I doubt he would have told you, so set your mind at rest.
