  • Open window or not, it's still stupid to leave a parcel in plain view of passersby. OP is lucky it was still there.

My Postie did this once - he couldn't be bothered to ring my doorbell so tried to open the window (bedroom on bottom floor and the window has a lock on it to prevent it opening more than an inch). When he couldn't get in and was forced to ring the doorbell, the man began to complain about my window being locked. He got the sharper end of my tongue that morning.

And what if he did get his arms in? What would have happened if the dog had gotten hold of him? Would I have recived a letter from the post office complaining of my dangerous dog?

if the lounge window was open you'd expect somebody to be at home, so it'd be spotted fairly soon.

as far as the deliver driver would be aware is that the window was open, you were either at the toilet or in the garden etc. and never heard him, so posted through the open window where you would see it when you re entered the room.
