    I have also been in contact with the retailer and their advice so far is that I must send it back to them( I purchased online) and they will forward to the manufacturer for investigation before they decide whether to repair or replace.
    Heve they already decided that they are going to cover the cost of the repair or replacement?

    If so, then they have already clearly come to the conclusion that the thing is inherently faulty and they are responsible for the remedy.

    If that is so, then I repeat... they must provide a remedy without causing significant inconvenience.
    Lots of fish dying sounds like a significant inconvenience (at least) to me.

    (2)If the buyer requires the seller to repair or replace the goods, the seller must—
    (a)repair or, as the case may be, replace the goods within a reasonable time but without causing significant inconvenience to the buyer;
    (b)bear any necessary costs incurred in doing so (including in particular the cost of any labour, materials or postage).

    (5)Any question as to what is a reasonable time or significant inconvenience is to be determined by reference to—
    (a)the nature of the goods, and
    (b)the purpose for which the goods were acquired.

    Thanks wealdroam,

    That was realy useful and gives me some ammo when I call the retailer yesterday.
    They are not adnitting there was a fault and have requested the filter back so they that it can be investigated. However I also had issues with low flow when I first received the filter and imo it has never primed properly. On the manufacturers website they claim priming takes 2-3 presses of the primer button but it is more like 20-30 so imo it has always had an issue.
    I have aslo noticed there is water behind the lcd screen on the filter.

    Thanks again,

    Jim
