i always thought you could carry it over to 13 monthsThat is wrong. You can MOT a car 365 days a year if you wish. The 4 week rule is so that the new MOT expires 12 months after the expiry of the current one if there is 4 weeks or less remaining. If there is more than 4 weeks remaining on the current MOT, the new MOT will expire 12 months from the test date.0 -

that'll be it. 13 months if done 'early' or twelve months if you do it whenever you want.0 -
RFR 7.1 item 3 of MOT testers manual 2012.
A catalytic converter missing where one was
fitted as standard

I'd fail it I'm afraid!0 -
Standard to the engine or standard to the car?
My engine had one, but my car has never had one.0 -
The new MoT test requirements come in 1st January as stated, however the new additions do not become a failure until some unspecified date in the future. (VOSA have not yet announced when that will be as far as I know, but you might reasonably think at least 3 months...)
Therefore on the 2nd January, all you get is an advisory that the cat is missing and should be replaced.0 -

VOSA inspector told me that it's most likely to become a failure on the 1st of may.
Unsure how true that is though0 -
