A clumsy postman?

Hiya, just a bit of a rant.
I bought a really lovely le crueset espresso cup from an amazon seller.
It arrived this morning in a box which looked a bit dented but apart from that okay.
I opened the box and the espresso mug was wrapped in loads and loads of bubble wrap but has a long thin crack from bottom to top of the cup.
I'm a bit annoyed as how on earth sould something as solid as these items which were wrapped at least 4 times around in bubblewap still managed to get broken???
I reckon the postman must have played football with it. I really don't know what the seller could have done to be honest and I don't see the point in spending more money to return it so thats nearly £8 in total down the drain. Sigh......

Maybe it was broken already when the seller dispatched it, and the amount of bubble wrap is a "ploy"0

Was it double boxed? When they tip the parcels if a 3 kilo parcel lands on top of yours the impact could cause the crack, I think the point of double boxing with packaging material between is to absorb such an impact.
To add the seller should cover the return costs and if they don't I'd phone Amazon to complain. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
I guess it could have been anyone/thing in a long chain of events of which the postie is the last. Maybe unfair to blame him/her.
Annoying though it is.0 -
Who's to say the dent in the box has anything to do with the crack, it could have been cracked (possibly overlooked) before being wrapped. Was the package marked as fragile, even then there is no saying that Royal Mail (if to blame) would have taken any notice as I am sure bags get bashed around in transit.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0

I know there is no way of telling and I'm not blaming the seller.
The seller is rated very high on Amazon with loads of great feedback. The box was quite squished but not ripped or torn but no it didn't have fragile on it but then this make is not what I would call fragile.
I have the pan set at home and am always knocking it about and so far it is okay so it must have been a hell of a thunp to crack the cup like that.
It doesn't look like the sort of crack you would overlook to be honest so I really don't think the seller is at fault.
I'm just grr'ing a bit as was so pleased to find one in the correct colour, at a reasonable price and delivered plenty of time for a present.0 -

Poor packing possibly, report to the seller and let them make a claim off Royal Mail, they paid for the service as they were the sender.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
You could make the claim for damage yourself from RM if you'd rather not faff about sending it back and losing out on postage costs. This is the RM page which says you can.

well heres a bit of info
how do you think those packages move?
they go in large 'york' trolleys
If your item is at the bottom then it has a lot of weight/pressure pushing down on it
of course it makes far more sense the postman was filling their time with packet football............0 -

Mine definitely play basket ball with ours- they stand at the counter and throw th epackage several tards across the loading bay (concrete floor) and into the big cages. I sell glass and so I always double box and assume that my item will be the one that hits the floor.
If something arrives broken then it wasn't packed well enough- OP ask seller for a refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
