Evil Ryanair

I have just had a flight reconfirmed by Ryanair, several weeks after I booked originally, and have noticed an additional £10 increase from the initial agreed, bought & paid for price.

Apparently its environmental tax but I was never informed by Ryanair, they have also debited my card without authorisation, can they do this - is it even legal?!

I have scoured they Terms & Conditions and can find no loophole

  • Whether it's legal or not, Ryanair are not the only ones to be doing it - I hear most airlines have done this.

Where have you been the last couple of months, there are several postings about it on this forum alone and there's been a little bit on the news about it today

  • Does anyone know what happens if you phone up your card supplier and claim fraudulent use of credit card (obviously after the flight), I mean its not as if I gave my authorisation for a further charge?

its not Ryanairs fault...its the governments increase for "green" taxes.....announced in the last budget...every flight is hit with the extra from today...
  • I'm sorry, but it's not Rynaair's fault. They don't want the tax and don't agree with the tax. If you want to take it out on those responsible complain to Tony and Gordon. You know the ones, Mr Teflon and Mr Tax. The ones who are pushing for airport expansion at Heathrow and Stansted but, apparently, are also concerned about the environmental impact of cheap flights so they are taxing you for the privelidge of flying, the income from which, wont be used on environmental issues anyway! Magic!

    hiya million.

    welcome to MSE.

If you want to check out past threads, click on search at the top of the page maybe try flights or Rysn air it should bring up past threads that have been discussed.

I have just booked with Ryan air, it is a bit annoying when you have budgeted for something and then the price changes.
