Advice Needed - Pregnancy symptoms

Options
Hi all,

I don't use this site very much anymore, but I could really do with some advice from other women who may have experienced similar.

I gave birth to my little boy nearly 7 weeks ago and over the last week or so I have started to have what I can only describe as pregnancy 'symptoms' again.
With previous pregnancies, I have always had an insatiable appetite before actually getting a positive result. I also get a 'pain' in my lower stomach when I put pressure in a certain place. I have not breastfed my son and in the week after his birth, my breasts went through the normal getting bigger, then smaller then back to normal. However, they currently look and feel much bigger than they did. This, in addition to the extreme hunger and the 'pain' have made me wonder if I am in the very early stages again.

I did a pregnancy test this morning but it was negative. My periods have not yet returned.

I know it is indeed possible that I could again be pregnant, I'm just too early for a test to show. I'm just wondering if any other women have had these sorts of symptoms (or any that they personally get with pregnancy) and what the outcome has been. Are these common symptoms that I am wrong attributing to another pregnancy? Although I would be thrilled to be expecting again, the timing wouldn't be ideal as my body has been though enough pregnancies over the last 18 months.

Thanks in advance.

  • Congratulations.

You could be, but you could also be experiencing mild PMT. Many women are starving hungry, have pains and swollen boobs in the week-10 days before they are due on.

It certainly makes it worth testing again in a few days/seeing the GP/midwife. But I personally would be inclined to think it was PMT until proven otherwise by a subsequent test (whilst taking pregnancy vitamins and avoiding obvious dangers, just in case).

Fingers crossed the result is the one you want, though.

I have no idea, but i'm just amazed you managed the deed so soon after! go you!
  • Thanks for the reply.

I have (thankfully) never suffered from any PMT symptoms and my cycles have always been bang on 25 days, even for the very short time between my 1st and 2nd pregnancies. That said, pregnancy has changed my body beyond recognition (the joys!) so perhaps you are right.

Jenhug - I'm not sure how I managed either...!

I was walking like John Wayne for weeks after my first, after the second I was too afraid of my c section splitting. Hubbys friend has a boy and a girl exactly 9 months apart! Neighbours children are 11 months. Good luck whichever way it turns out!

Well, if you have had unprotected intercouse you really could be pregnant. After pregnancy as you havent ovulated for a long time . when the hormones drop you can get a rebound ovulation, so pregnancy so soon after a birth is not uncommon. I would give it a week or so and try another test. Hope you get what you want. Good luck

Congrats on your little bubba :T

Of course, you could be, but I had all of this after both of mine, they were both FF as well.

I guess time will tell :D

Hi :) Did you have unprotected sex? It is possible to get pregnant so soon-my sisters youngest two have their birthdays in the same week as she got pregnant fairly quick the 2nd time.

As someone else has already said though-you could just be experiencing pmt and your period could be on its way?

  • You are more fertile than ever in the first few months following birth, so if you've had unprotected sex I guess by statistics at least, there's a very good chance!
  • it is very possible you are pg. if you dont want to be use something till you know for sure you are not!

it can take a few months for your hormones to return to normal after giving birth and its possible to get a false positive for a while but yours has come back negative so that could be why you are having some symptoms as your hormone levels are returning to normal again.

good luck and i hope you get the result you want.
