How great has your mum been?

My grandma has been amazing

When I got engaged, we sorted out the date and venue but kept it very quiet (I wanted to get stuff sorted without my mum and dad interferring and trying to change my mind about things.)

My grandma was the only one I told out of my family about the date, she also came with me with my chief bridesmaid when I tried on dresses. When I went to another shop, my mum tagged along (although she didn't know we were trying on dresses) unfortunately my mum was less than enthusiastic and was quite annoyed at having her shopping time wasted by me trying on dresses.

Thankfully I have my gran, and she has helped me financially and emotionally. She's always reminding me that my OH and I should do what we want.

Maybe I should just note down, my mum and I have never been close, she has always been closer to my sister, so my gran has kinda raised me.

My Mum doesn't seem interested really although they live 200 miles away so there isn't much she could do anyway, i think there is a feeling we have excluded them slightly by choosing to get married here. I will be going down at christmas to take my sisters dress shopping so hopefully i can involve her then. OH's mum died when he is was 18 so i never knew her. from what i have learned about her i think she would have been a great help.
