In my area a red light seems to say"go faster and you'll get through". I watched 4 cars follow each other through on red yesterday. Very dangerous.

Where abouts was this as it may not be a red light camera. Many don't work anyway due to unsafe maintenance access. you may be lucky

Money from speed cameras and red light cameras don't go to the Police sadly .

True but it doesn't stop OP committing an offence and then implying that there is something bent in the collection of any fines.

Wrong you should be slowing down on an amber light, so if you jump a red light it three points and a fine.
  • it is dependent on the length of time between the light going red and you going through it - the longer it was the more the fine and it'll go str8 to court, no fine-paying option (if it was more than a couple of seconds say).

or you may be offered the course instead of the points.
Last time I researched this, Traffic Light Awareness courses were offered in the Met and GMP areas. I'm not sure which other areas have joined in since then.

Crossing on red is an absolute offence - the 'unless it would be dangerous to stop' applies to amber. Shame not many people seem to know that........

Back to the OP - what do you mean by a 'flashing open sign'?
