Duplicate bank transfer

Ok so someone transfered £104 into my ban account 3 days ago and it went into my bank today. According to their account there was only 1 transfer to me but in my account i have had 2 transfers from this person for the same amount and at the same time. So its a bank error duplicating the transfer. What happens now? will the other bank ask my bank for the money back even though the extra transfer hasn't been taken out of the other persons account??? as its the banks error and their fault to they have to cover the money?

As long as you were only expecting/owed one payment and you only spend one payment everything will be ok.
If asked is there any reason why you would not refund the extra payment?0 -
no proper reason just that iv had a raw deal with banks in the last year and if they make the mistake then tough them! just didn't know if they would realise there fault as no one will say "there's 2 payments of £104 missing from my account" as its not (hope that makes sense.)0

If it's a banking error they will almost definitely take it back as a "Correction" or "Adjustment" within 28 days. I had £134.26 too much credited in my account earlier this year, but it was debited back about 3 days afterwards.
Funny thing is, if someone accidentally sends you 2 payments, it can takes months to return the cash! But when its a bank, 3 days !0 -
so what happens if i hadn't checked my bank balance and done my christmas shopping and there was only say £40 left in my bank, i have no overdraft so would they still be able to take it out without telling me and put me overdrawn???0

i just think its wrong how banks can work, dont get me wrong yes that extra money isn't mine so when they do take it back thats fine but they have trouble giving money out but no problems taking it back.
So how will they know its been done twice at the same time?0 -
ok, wasn't sure if they only would notice when the other party if there was one said about it. Thanks0
