As far as I'm aware, that's the way they work, yes.

But call them tomorrow - if they've received the application they'll definitely be able to see it by then, irrespective of their claimed "3-5 day" turnaround.

Applied last night for a second Sygma (think it was the 0% purchases one)...on hitting 'confirm' the next page was a 'internet explorer can't display this page' (??!!). No e-mail saying referred/declined/authorised. Refreshed page but got creation/Sygmas message 'there has been an error-please not we have not stored your details'.

Called this AM -it was referred purely as it was a duplicate (i.e. Flybe already approved)-the (very helpfull!) staff member got a supervisor to 'overide it' & hey presto-authorised & 2K limit! So....two applications in 2 days-Flybe with 1k & creation 0% mastercrd with 2 k! RESULT! Oncew received i think Vanquis & Capital ones days are numbered....(!!)

I did the checker thing for the Barclaycard Initial (it will be my first credit card) and it said 80-90% chance, I applied expecting it to fail (having applications for other credit cards rejected 4 times in the past) but it was instantly accepted.

Phoned today-11 days after phone app-told I'd been 100% accepted....& credit agreement is in the post! Credit limit not given yet....any idea of what it'll be???

P.S. Received both Sygma cards. the '0% on purchases for 9 months' will be VERY usefull at this time of year!

Be careful though, Barclaycard told me I'd been approved - and sent me a letter to that effet, too.

Then five days later they went back on their decision and wrote to me again saying "Actually, tough".

Good luck though. WHat's your credit history like? Owe much? Had many cards in the past?

Izools....were you told straight way or was it referred?? The guy I spoke to said the credit agreement had been sent today-so thats a good sign. At the mo probably only abou £110/£120 in total on one of the 3 card-2 cards are clear. My 'line of zeros' only started last Oct/Nov for Vanquis...then within 3 months I'd got Aqua & Cap 1. No o/d on bank a/c till this April-however a string of 'zeros' since last August from them. So...the majority of my green zeros are from cards created between 9-12 months ago. O/D at time searched would have either been £250 (way way under limit) or zero-depending on day searched.

Ok...checked experian today-credit search done yesterday-which is when I phoned & was told I was approved! So...........maybe the call-centre guy was right in saying all applications are looked at before a decission is made.....certainly this COULD be the case maybe on phone applications only?

Update! Credit agreement signed....card posted out 22/12-so should be here any day. Still not got a clue of credit limit but being accepted for a mainstream 7.9% card has made my day.

Congratulations... So far...

Keep in mind that I, and others, have got this far and still been turned down in the end so don't get too excited.

I do hope you end up being able to keep the card, though. Good luck! Getting the lowest rate card on the market is no mean feat... :beer:
