    Put a coat on.

Very useful information HRLR to a lady concerned about cost of heating oil, especially with the lady having two babies to concern herself with too!

On the subject of babies, give us a clue when you reckon you will grow up, or maybe you were dropped on the head at birth, coz there aint a lot up there is there mate, you are a good example of a bungalow............go figure if you can?

    Regards.

There is no help out there unless you are perhaps on benefits and can apply for a crisis loan?

Otherwise its electric heaters and only heat the rooms you are using, insulating the house the best as possible and ask the neighbours where you can buy emergency drums of oil from. Its dearer but many families find it easier to find say £50 a week then a huge lump sum at once.

If you intend on staying in the property for anytime you also need to start putting by for a fill of oil for next winter

some places do less than 500, try your most local ones and ask when they will be next in area could they drop it off, its still profit to them at no extra expense if they are in the area

That which doesn't kill one, makes one stronger as Nietzsche said. When I was a child, we had no heat and had to make do with the cold. It didn't do me any harm. When I couldn't afford to heat my home several years ago, I put several layers of clothing on and walked about in a duvet. Despite your perception, it is not a fundamental right to be able to walk around in 36c in the middle of Winter in one's underpants. The Scottish addiction to welfare, when not applied to the mouth of a spirits bottle, is clearly influencing your perception of individual responsiblity.

How about man up for good advice? There are 7 billion people on this planet and 95% make do with less than the poorest on these forums.

I beg to differ, definitely something not right up there!!!

I have always been fortunate enough no to use welfare state, although, if I did have to, I would have no qualms about this, as I have paid my dues to qualify me receiving what ever amount one is entitled to. Regarding spirits, I suggest you lay off the stuff, may help with your spelling.

    you clown :D
  • There is zip wrong with my spelling, and I have a languages degree. You're a pratt for thinking you simply go to the govt and get "yer due" because you've paid them before. It is simpler to not pay them and later collect nothing as used to happen when Britain was a progressive country 100 years ago.

highrisklowreturn - please tone it down a little and have some sympathy.

Heating especially off grid can be vey expensive and a cold house with young children can be a big worry. It's not as simple as put a coat on... the house may start to feel damp and mould may develop.

Prior to ditching the ineffective and expensive to run LPG system my daughters soft toys were covered in mould

Over last winter we resorted to supplementing the LPG with oil filled rads set to low to help keep the chill of which worked out not to expensive but got us through the winter.
