I see no contradiction.
I do wonder if you fully understand the metaphor, though.
(Or maybe I'm just being very, very, dense, today.)There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

The staff in my local M&S all seem really nice, had to order something from the counter as they didn't have my size the poor girl was juggling 6 things at once and the computer was playing up.
God knows how she kept smiling0 -
I'd just like to offer my congratulations to Marks & Spencer this Christmas on their website. It really must be the contender for overall winner in the 'How not to do e-business 2011' award. Whilst they have now finally fixed their 'Christmas Food to Order' link (it used to just drop to a 404 page not found), their search is still broken. Try this - just search for 'mince pies' in 'food and drink' and it bombs out, taking you to a completely unrelated advert for Cashmere. Well done M&S, you've got this technology thing licked.....0

I used to work for M&S and know fine well how much stuff we are pushed to say to the customers, and how robotic it ends up being after you've said it the 15th , 20th time or whatnot!! maybe this person was just having a bad day, maybe it was the end of her shift or was overdue her tea break!! yes its not really an excuse but cut the staff some slack..i dont think she was rude tbh yes it would have been courteous for her to thank you for waiting but often when I was busy at a till after dealing with some "interesting" customers, id often forget what i was meant to be saying!!!! M&S staff have so much things to try and remember to say to the till and i agree with a PP in that younger people are more inclined (from my experience) to just pay and go....its the older people that like a chat and i had so many compliments from the older ones about how chatty I was and how nice and polite I was....5lb a Month Challenge 2012:j

Well, as you have singularly failed to point out any contradiction, twice I'm going to assume that you were just indulging in some mindless waffle. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Personally I can't fault the shop staff at all. I've never found a better bunch of people in retail. The website, however, sucks.0

OP..have you considered assertiveness training classes.....?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Why can't some people voice an opinion without being rude for the sake of it on these forums?
Some people have different opinions, and express them, it's how free speech works.
Not saying I necessarily like opinions you dislike, but sometimes I see people getting uptight about rudeness and nastiness, and I read something that's perfectly fine or in some extreme cases a nice person standing up to nastiness and rudeness.0 -

That would be good for instant justice, but not for solving the problem.0
