Mobile Phone Stolen

Hi
Today i lost a very expensive phone which was on contract with orange, my 3 months free insurance was due to be cancelled on the 15th of January, i have called up orange for my sim and handset to be blocked. Is there anyway i can track this phone or can the company i got my handset from send me another phone, i know i am out of my insurance but is there anyway at all i can get orange or one stop phone shop to do something else about this other than just block the handset & simcard?

    hi,
sorry to hear about your loss, there's nothing you can do about it. my handbag was stolen on saturday with no phone insurance.

If you have no insurance, they are not obliged to send you another phone. You can appeal to their goodwill for a good deal on the phone.

Have you check that your insurance was properly cancelled? You may have still been covered if they were a bit slack with the paperwork?
  • everything of value that u own, with a serial number or imei number, you can register on this site. i got my phones, ipod,pc,kids bikes,tv etc all on here and if ever they get stolen..u might stand more of a chance of gettin them back, i also sent off for the infrared pens and have postcoded everything...this site will immobilise any phone stolen . worth a read up for future ref.

Definatley contact your customer service and see if it was removed.

I know with Vodafone & their 3 months/ 6 months free Insurance once that runs out then straight away a Chargable insurance is placed on the account and it is up to the customer to call in and cancel it if they don't want it. (unfortunatley it does state they'll do it in their t&c).

So hopefully for your sake Orange do a similar thing.

If it has been removed then the best option would be to get a cheap PAYT phone and put your contract sim into that to use your free minutes/texts.

    hth.

  • I have just spoken to orange who told me to contact onestopphoneshop, i then spoke to carphone warehouse who own onestopphoneshop, i was told i need a crime reference number which im off to get from the local police station, she also said i can get a replacement by going to my local CW and submitting a claim form, on the CW website it says that

The Carphone Warehouse automatically registers new connections with the Immobilise database.

So should i call them up again and ask them about Immobilise, i was actually pretty sure i had no insurance, the Nokia 3250 is no longer on the carphone warehouse site, i think it may have been a limited edition phone so dont think they will be able to replace it with the exact phone, has anybody ever had their phone replaced after it has been stolen from CW?

  • I had my mobile stolen and called 02 and informed them of the theft, but they continued to deduct money out of my account every month. After loads of phone calls, I found out it was because I had not also informed them to cancel the contract!!! Can you believe that - I was paying for a mobile and contract I never had. I eventually got all the money refunded...... but just to let you know in case you haven't told them the phone is stolen AND that you want to cancel the contract (just in case they are the same as 02)

it appears to be a fairly new contract, so cannot be cancelled yet

What's to stop people giving incorrect (but correct) IMEI and getting them blocked?
  • Hi guys
I have filled in a claim form online and over the phone, they will get back to me within 24 hours, and hopefully they will decide to send me another phone but i will have to pay 27 pounds for the sim, and what if the 3250 is not in stock as i cant see it on the CW website anywhere, will they send me an alternative?
