Well if it was clocked and it's from a private seller who also MOT it for the last time you should report him/her.

£650 for a 179k 306 is a fair price, but didn't you say you can spend 1.5k-2k? You lowered your budget significantly, for less than 1.5k there are plenty of much younger Skodas, Seats and others without corrosion and probably less problems waiting to happen.

It wouldn't be my choice as I hate being stranded but the pug is probably worth driving til it's MOT has run out and then shift it to get another one.
