OMG! can't believe you've let the side down and cleaned an oven, i've managed to sprain my wrist the last twice i tackled ours so it can just wait a little longer.0 -
LOVE the shoes lady and you shamed me into doing my grill tonight 'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Lol, yes I cleaned my oven.....there are only so many times you can cope with the smoke detectors going off every time you open the oven door, even when only cooking oven chips!!
Clearly this is not a usual situation in my life as comments on facebook will prove from those who know me well....but very occasionally such things have to be tackled with dignity.....!
I did also go and get my nails done though, so that re-dresses the balance. Also had a girlfriend over for dinner then another friend popped by for a quick late cuppa so all in all not a bad day/evening.
And of course I have my shoes to look forward to - they will be arriving next week I guess

Nice!Pickle, I wish you all the best! I would fail by about 8.30am on day one though!!
I'm not sure I can do it: I have to go to a 50th birthday party. How can I go without buying any drinks?! Or maybe I can do the 'Don't buy anything for a month except drinks at the 50th' challenge instead? Oh how easy it would be to create a huge list of exceptions! :rotfl:Please call me 'Pickle'
No More Buying Books: ???

Maybe you have to look at all the things that you have already planned, and just work out how to keep the costs for those at an acceptable minimum.
Then do the challenge for anything else that crops up. So, for the 50th, allow for a couple of drinks, but drink whatever's cheapest, and don't get carried away in buying a new top or shoes to wear for it...or.....or....or.....?
I work on a similar way - on every payday, I sit down with my envelopes and my diary and allow a certain amount for everything that I have planned eg football matches - I know I want to go with the guys for a beer afterwards, and it is a big part of my life so I don't want to miss it if I can help it.
Once my envelopes are done, whatever is left in the account has to cover the rest of my "living" so lunches, additional drinks out, friday night drinks, that sort of thing - they are the things I can cut back on or miss altogether if needed.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Why don't you join the NSD challenge for January? You could then set a target which excludes all those days you know you have to spend e.g. your party/music lessons.
We're a friendly bunch over there0 -

NSD seems a far better option to me than no spends at all - I know I'd be setting myself up to fail.
I need a bit of help here - I often dip in and out of threads. As I went to find Memory Girls thread Matrix for a catch up (hadn't been there for a long while) I found talk of a new thread but couldn't find a name or linky for it - anyone know where I can find it? Thanks and sorry for the hijack Hypno.January spends - £587.580 -
It's the ginormous jump into 2012 thread, milann (sorry, can't remember how to do links). Should be somewhere near the top of the DFW forum list.
Happy New Year Hypno and all, hope it's a good one for all of us.One life - your life - live it!0 -
