    Loads of people on Twitter get 'celebs' to retweet one of their posts, for example Lord Sugar will often do it if you promise to buy his latest book !!
    @Lord_Sugar

    Its a way of getting yourself noticed.

    And of course we all believe that it's actually Lord Sugar himself who responds to all the sycophantic tweets in person and not some paid flunky on minimum wage doing it on his behalf!

    Are you following anyone, Emuchops?

    I think I started by following a few accounts on subjects that interested me, then I Tweeted a few times on trending topics. There are often trends if people are watching the same TV show for example.

    I still only have 11 followers and I follow 30 accounts but I read much more than I Tweet.

    No pimento, I haven't followed anyone yet. I think that I will have to look into it further...It's just that nothing I've read so far seems particulalry interesting (much like my few Tweets, its all a bit uninspiring).

    Sorry to harp on about this, but does anyone know whether tweets go to anybody when you haven't got any followers? I'm tweeting each time I update the blog but as I'm new to Twitter I'm wondering if theres any point?

    No they don't, unless you use a hash tag, in which case it is possible for people to find your tweet using the twitter search function.

    So, if you wrote about flowers, you could tag on to your tweet #flowers.

    This isn't true - even tweeting without a hashtag will still get tweeted and will show up on a search result if someone searches one of the words in your tweet.

    Some of the worldwide trending topics are trending without a hashtag.

    The best way to get followers - other than following people that interest you and hoping they follow back, or getting friends to follow you etc. is to have keywords in your profile bit on twitter.

    If you have things like "golf" in your profile (just as an example) you will usually find a number of like minded people/businesses etc. will start following you.

    Thanks for that NeilF3485-Do the keywords go in the 'bio' bit of the profile?

    Yep, that's the one! I'll even start following you now, I'm just the gift that doesn't stop giving! :p

    EDIT: Or at least I would if I knew your twitter ID....
