    Report it.

I almost fell for one through edock.tv and a"sister" site tomsondirect both "based" in Blackburn.

I stopped any payment as soon as I realised.

Action fraud advise that most cases are only interested in getting hold of the cash not the "identity theft" side of things.

Our bank information is as follows:
    Account Name: Bargains Shop
    Bank Name: HSBC Bank
    Acc Number: 11611607
    Sort Code: 40-04-06
    IBAN: GB 73 MIDL 4004 0611 6116 07
    BIC/SWIFT : MIDLGB2141E
    Transfer Reference ( Transfer Description ): 26463
    Amount to be sent: £344.99
Have you contacted your bank? Whilst you may end up still loosing your money, surely a major bank like HSBC would not want bad publicity about one of it's customer scamming the public?
At the very least, ask your bank to contact HSBC fraud dept and request an immediate freeze on your funds in their account?

  • yes I contacted my own bank Santander who sent it to there Fraud department, I also contacted HSBC and they are also investigating the person in questions account.
Santander did contact me a couple of days ago saying they had concluded there investigations and said the transaction that took place was not fraud due to me being the willing party who sent the money, mmmm, so I kicked off with the fraud section at Santander and told them the Police are investigating the fraud as well, Santander refused to get my money back, until I kicked off and told them I have been a customer with them for 18 years and if this doesn't get sorted I will be informing watchdog to tell them that Santander fob there customers off and that there Fraud Dept are incompetant when dealing with claims, also the police officer who contacted me when I told him that santander where unwilling to deal with told me that santanders fraud dept are incompetant lol, so the office rang santander to ask why they where not doing there job properly, and the next thing I knew the £344.99 was back in my account lol, the office then rang me and asked me to go to action fraud website and report the fraudulant website as action fraud are the only department that can look into it and get it shut down to stop others from going through the same as i did
  • Hi
I too wondered about this site. I was wise enough to use my credit card for the first time. I got the same email message suggesting a bank transfer which I didn't do. I reordered and got the same message. Went into Nationwide who rang through and told me no attempt had been made to withdraw the money. I then reordered and got the same message. Very suspicious by now and didn't want to lose £693! The site says the order has been cancelled so does that mean that they will not be able to process one or two or three withdrawals? Do I have to do anything at Nationwide?

Is www. premshop .com a similar scam? (Delete the 2 spaces)
  • Hi
I have since cancelled my credit cards so no withdrawals will be made.
The other cheap 'supplier' premshop is based in malaysia so I will give them a miss too!

It is showing a contact address in Malaysia so I doubt I would touch it anyway.

Whoisthis shows that he site was set up on the 1.11.11 so needs to be treated with caution IMO.

    Might be OK though;)

  • Just got caught by this one too, quite a good scam site and I'm on the phone to Co Op bank now. These guys are bonkers : according to the Co Op Bank at 1513 hours GMT this afternoon, Co Op Bank say if the site has made no attempt to take the money, there is no problem .... if the site does take the money, it's a dispute ... and were not interested in any fraud aspects because I willingly gave them my card details for the transaction.

It looks like the ethical bank are actually the bank that couldn't give a toss about customer security, data mining, phishing websites, etc.

At least she confirmed that the call was being recorded because I hope they keep the recording in case anything actually does show up on a future statement.

As for bargain-universe .............. AVOID AVOID AVOID
  • This site, and others are now listed on www-dot-scamwebsites-dot-co-dot-uk
  • I stupidly made a bank transfer to a Bargain-universe HSBC on 26/Nov/2011 as instructed by this company.
The usual scenario of my payment was declined by debit card, i was sent their bank account number & sort code to transfer the money including £4.99 for 'Next day special delivery by Royal Mail', they dont reply to emails & the phone is permanently unanswered with the mailbox full.

The police have been given all the information i have about this fraudulent company & Nationwide fraud department are investigating.

Bargain-universe are continuously trading even advertising 'Christmas sale items!'

Why are they allowed to keep taking peoples money for items they are not delivering ??????

So many questions & no answers!!!!!!!

Why have they not been shut down????

Why does HSBC allow a fraudulent company to use their banking system???????
