Found the terms and conditions on the vodafone website for the free texts. You may want to hi-light these to the vodafone operator who said they never had such an offer.

Thanks Richard, I will certainly include that link in the email that I send them, if they ever sort out their useless email system. At the time of writing, it's still down!

I've given up on emailing Vodafone, their useless system is still down. That's 7hrs now!

I have ordered an Orange and an O2 SIM Card off ebay (2for1 deal) and I'll trial Orange to see what the signal is like down here. All the free credit on O2 and the lower call cost are very attractive though so I might just go with them as I know their signal is very good.
