My contract is up and spotted this, amongst many other offers, on Tesco website. They are offering a £250 cashcard on this phone, other offers on other phones so worth a browse if your due soon.

The £250 cash card, how does it work? Just redeem it in store on whatever you like?
Could you sell the cash card? I could use that to pay up exisiting contract!0 -

I think this was in an older thread somewhere with calculations. Here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/36531670

Tarriff is £20.42 at T Mobile (rather than £25.54 at tesco) so you are paying £5 x 24 months for the card)
Buy Mobile Phone are doing the same tariff but with 16 months free (by redemption) which works out to just over £400 back (as long as the cashback is paid!)

I recently switched from an Iphone to a bog standard Nokia somethingorother and used the Carphone Warehouse, their deal see's the handset cost £15pm (V's £35pm with an Iphone) plus a £200 Sainsbury's gift card. It's a 24 month contract meaning an initial saving of £240pa + £200 in Sainsbubs + Nectar Points - if all you need is a phone 'wot makes calls' then there are loads of great offers out there. My reason for switching from an all singing all dancing phone was a house move to the middle of nowhere, i have to stand on the back of a Cow to get a signal so figured i'd be using the home phone more. I now use the mobile in emergency's only, it sits in the car.
£680+ of savings... consider if you really really need that shiney thing and, if you don't, you could save an absolute bundle!
It's also worth noting the price of Consoles and whatnot on eBay, there are so many given as "gifts" with phones that the price has fallen heavily, a £200 (or £250) card, makes a lot more sense than a Console costing roughly £140 on eBay.0 -
20,000 points is £200 but in the next double up it would be worth £400.
so if you had a payg on tesco like i had for my son who also wanted a new phone for xmas thats two birds with 1 stone.0 -

I had been keeping an eye on my points but they hadn't jumped drastically either, so I called yesterday afternoon as it does say in the T&C's that 'gifts' should be received within 28 days of being accepted for your contract. (I took mine out on 12th Dec).... Well the guy on the phone said that in the case of promotional Clubcard points, they should be here in time for the next statement, and if they aren't- call back up to query as sometimes with contracts they prefer to see 3 payments from the customer before they award the points. It's basically what I expected, to be fobbed off by the (polite) CS's @ PhoneShop, but it doesn't help if others are actually needing their points for this statement (I save mine for Christma, so it's not too much of a worry for me yet) It only just occured to me that Tesco probably wouldn't even know if you'd paid 3 bills, unless T-mobile (or similar) are keeping them updated of course.0
