Get the truth on MSE

Just for information if you require the truth behind PPC tickets and their "business model" this is the place to be.
Pepipoo is a superb site giving invaluable excellent advice to motorists BUT
you are not allowed the whole truth on Pepipoo.
I have had two posts deleted because I dared to describe a PPC ticket as a "con"
The ticket was issued for not properly displaying a blue badge in a private car park.
So apparently issuing a "ticket" which implies that the issuer is entitled to charge an innocent person a penalty for breaching the rules of a scheme that does not even apply to the land in question is not a "con".
Censorship alive and well in Pepipoo land ...sad that such a great site feels that telling the truth is something that should be punished

But did you know that on MSE they tried to stop us using words like 'scam' and 'cowboys' about a year ago? I got a pm from on of the MSE team warning me about it and so did several others on here.
So I replied to the forum team member pointing out that Martin had used the word 'cowboy' himself in the national press (see my signature which is why I quote him!). Nothing else was said.
I think that a complaint/legal threat came in from a PPC - which is probably what happened at pepipoo and CAG as well (neither will let you use a 'scam' type word about PPCs now - but they used to). It's only because MSE is so big I think that they were able to decide to ignore it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Odd then that the first reply in the thread which describes the ticket a "fake" is allowed to stand .....actually it's not odd it's just utterly pathetic...calling something a "con" when it clearly is such ...I'd love to see the PPC concerned argue that one if they were minded to take legal action...never gonna happen...0 -
Yes it is slightly odd that on pepipoo we can call a PPC ticket a 'fake PCN' - I suppose because that's not in question. It's the derogatory words that can't be used on pepipoo or CAG.
BTW I think pepipoo is great but I cannot stand CAG and stopped even looking at it. Their stickies on PPCs are unhelpful, their replies to newbies very hit-and-miss and they delete your posts if you link to another forum! So on CAG you cannot even show people the PPC letters chains!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I can't even sign into my account on pepipoo. I can reset my password but when it comes to signing in it refuses. I gave up.0

I posted a tongue in cheek ironic apology for using the "c" word...that got deleted too as did one supportive reply to it.
Mods comment posted to the thread was something like "Anyone else want to moan about the rules : I don't joke about it "
Bloody rude tw*t with too much power methinks Southpaw82.
I think the advice is great but the attitude sucks..0 -
Yes their attitude stinks. I joined there years ago to offer an insiders view from the world of parking. Needless to say it was met with a hostile attitude. I figured if they don't want to know how we work, how we make decisions etc then that is one less tool in the box that they have. Some people value insider knowledge as it can help them..0

Saw your posts earlier on ppp Sirdan. I understand the frustration and have found myself having to reword posts at the last minute to avoid hitting the buffers. For the sake of avoiding the "s" word (and a few others) I'm happy to continue. With the greatest of respect to regulars here I think ppp is too good a resource to lose and will happily stick to the rule to ensure its continued existance.
Given that there is now only one regular mod (besides Fredd - who I have never found to be anything other than the model of rectitude) - jeffreyarcher and nemo are rarely seen these days - I think sp's work is pretty consistent if a little short on explanation on occasion although I suspect that might just be a product of the time he has available.
CAG by contrast I find completely inconsistent both in its moderation and offering to newbies. Occasionally the moderating borders on the petulant. I've sometimes come away from threads with the sound of temporarily airborne rattles and dummies hitting the deck and the stamping of feet still ringing in my ears - as I'm sure others have too. Quite why they are so averse to a collaborative approach I completely fail to understand. At least there is overt communication between MSE and ppp.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
Yes CAG mods can seem holier than thou very often, but with regard tp pepipoo, perhaps they are a tad oversensitive, as what is a scheme that is designed from the outset to maximise fees that are unenforceable under law, and is designed to deceive other than a con?
I am supportive of Sirdan's viewpoint, and if a ppc did try to silence him, with a spurious injunction or libel claim I would be among the first to support him0 -
if you assume that ppp will give information which is not possibly coloured by flowery names then you will get on well there. They, maybe, believe that straightforward information is the best way to go without going off topic. Glad they are very strict about one case per thread/topic as its much easier to find information that is not lost in a thread with thirty or more different posts from thirty or more OP's.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Some time ago, Parking Eye got a high-profile libel lawyer to write letters to Pepipoo, threatening them with legal action for allowing posters to use words like "scam" and "con". MSE and CAG received similar threats, and copies were sent to the ISPs who provide the site hosting.
Rightly or wrongly, the view was taken that although such threats were extremely unlikely to succeed in the High Court, the time and expense in defending them would be disproportionate, and there was always a danger that the ISP might take down the site to protect themselves, rather than investigate whether there was any real substance to the complaint.
Southpaw82 (ex-copper) was appointed to moderate the Parking forum, and will delete or modify any post which uses these words, unfortunately.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0
