Is it Free to call 0800 Numbers on Orange?
Hi All,
I have recently started a new job as a Rep and have been provided with a Orange mobile Phone as I am on the road alot. Although all business related callas are free I still have to pay for private calls.
I have discovered that I will have to use this mobile for most things as I hardly seem to have access to my own landline anymore.
My Question is do Orange charge for calling 0800 Numbers??
I would like to use the alternative numbers that I have found on sonoto0870.com but when I checked the Orange site it says that some 0800 calls are charged at 0.49 a minute.
Anyone know how they decide what is a free number and what ones they will charge for??
Thanks

It all depends on what tariff you're on. The easiest way to find out is to call Orange on 150 (choose option 4, then option 2) and ask them.
Mind you, I have also found that everytime I phone, I get a different answer to this question, so it might be an idea to record the conversation or atleast get the person's name and extension number.
Another other way would be to make a call to an 0800 number for a minute or so then either check your bill or call Orange 5 days later (apparently they can only view call records which are older than 5 days!) and ask them to check to see if you were charged for the call.0 -
If Its a straight orange plan then its most probably free.......if you are on a orange value promise plan it will obviuosly depend on the other network call charges that orange are matching....and since most other networks charge for 0800 then so most OVP's do.0

Remember its only Orange contract tariffs that will have free 0800 (and not ornage pay as you go). However calling known 0800 number calling cards will incur a charge. Also I think 0808 and 0500 numbers (if they still exist) will be free."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

thanks for the replies.
I will try contacting Orange Customer Service tomorrow to check. I guess I should have done this before postingOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -
I have been an Orange Customer for over 4 years on the pay monthly tariff. They have always charged me for 0800 numbers @ 15p/minute. Our present government and all other political parties do not care. I would only use 0800 numbers for car breakdown Roadside or accident assistance. When I asked them (assistance people) they said they understand my problem but I could be at home and on a land line to ask for home start, hence the 0800 number. So I said "hey that's great, so since I am ringing from home and not from the middle of nowhere where I have broken down and the car does not have a landline, I will be so stressed wouldn't I, and I would thank your service for providing me a free 0800 number which from my mobile would have costed me 15p/minute.
Anyway what's the point to use sarcasm to these brainboxes?
Now let me give you some good news. Providing it is a 0800, 0808 or a 0500 number, just dial this number 0118 352 0800. When voice prompted just ring your 0800 or 0808 or 0500 number followed by the # key. Walla! no charges and you use minutes from your monthly quota. Go to 0800buster dot co dot uk.
I hope this is useful.0 -
