Yup it remains 5% and when I rang to complain about this they were not a bit helpful ( well that advisor was not helpful ). You would think with the competition out there re Web Only accounts ( eg IceSave at 5.7% ) that a society should at least match BoE rate !
  • They are not upping variable wabsaver as they have compared themselves to ING - who are lower - at 4.75%

They have increased the fixed rate websaver options though

Ah yes. . . but look at Liquid Gold!!!! Surely that knowledge alone makes it all worthwhile:rotfl:

The Liquid Gold is such an old account - and believe me some people won't change it as they want their passbook like its a bank account to them

The instant saver has a card - imagine telling older people (and others) who like passbooks (liq gold) that they can no longer have that account and must use a card - another bank/bs tried that once and it failed

Yes, by a maximum of 0.10% gross (some less). Super. ;)
  • I think they are concentrating more on bank accounts to get a bigger bank account market share as they are increasing the rates to 6.17% AER

Wan't the Liquid Gold originally Leeds Perm and advertised by Arfur Daly (George Cole)?
  • Yeah it was a Leeds acc - all the "gold" accounts were - which Halifax do not concentrate on
