Replacement Windscreen

Yes a replacement windscreen, or even a repair, is classed as a claim as you have claimed on your insurance and must be declared as long as the policy states.
It won't affect your NCD, but may affect your premium depending on the company.
You need to check your own policy regarding whether windscreen claims affect the NCD - eg with Swiftcover, a claim for a windscreen replacement results in no NCD being awarded for the year.0 -

couple hundred quid?
ring a windscreen firm (not autoglass) as the local ones tend to be a LOT cheaper than autoglass and the like..Sealed pot challenger # 10

Hi
Had the same problem with my fiesta. Rang my insurers, Direct Line and at first they said it was covered and I asked them to check with a manager and they did so and still said yes it was covered. I paid my excess (£75) and booked it in with autoglass. The night before the replacement Autoglass said they had not had authorisation from Direct Line. After a few phone calls Direct Line said yes it was covered and they will pay the remainder. Then I got a phone call from Direct Line to say they've made a mistake and its not covered after all. I said it wasn't good enough as I phoned and got a manager's say so and phoned again and got the same response and I would lose my £75 I had paid to Autoglass. In the end they agreed to pay the difference.
I think the full cost for a replacement heated windscreen is £200.
I would check your fuses before paying out for a new windscreen. There will be one labelled heated windscreen, check if its blown and even if its not, replace it to see if this works before going to the expense of a replacement. The Cabbage

I don't think a fuse check will do much good in this situationadriandilly wrote: »I thought it might be a good idea, as winter is approaching, to get my heated front windscreen replaced as only 20% of the elements work..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hi. I've just come on here to have a search regarding cheap windscreen replacement as the exact same thing as above has happened to me. Co Op Insurance wont help even though my garage told me I would be able to claim for it. I have had two quotes so far - Autoglass, who I knew there was a problem with prices are £350 and another firm £160! I feel comforted that paying will protect my no claims as I too thought windscreens were kept separate in this process.
Has anyone had better quotes? My car is a Corsa.0 -

It is still a lot of money though to get heating elements back. You could almost justify getting up 10 mins earlier on cold mornings!
My rear windscreen has broken tracks too, I've tried that metallic paint you can buy but it doesn't work0 -
The trouble is my rear window steams up inside so I use the heater as much for that outside in the frost. I live an outdoors life and often get in damp from the rain/snow at this time of year and think that causes it. If it didnt it would even be worth investing in a can of defroster!:)0
