Replacement Windscreen

My wife and I have just taken out a new policy with Tesco Car Insurance and I've been looking through the documents. It shows a windscreen replacement excess of just £10. I thought it might be a good idea, as winter is approaching, to get my heated front windscreen replaced as only 20% of the elements work..
Will this put our premium up perhaps next year?
Will it truly cost just £10 to get a heated windscreen replaced?
Will it affect (my) no claims bonus?
Is there anything else we should know about claiming?
Thanks in advance!!

wont affect no claims bonus..
if thats the excess then thats all it will cost
premiums would probably go up as its classed as a "claim"
although the screen would have to be damaged to warrant a replacementSealed pot challenger # 10

So they're unlikely to replace a screen with only the heated elements damaged?
Would we would have to declare the 'claim' to every insurance company we use in the next 5 yrs?0 -
wont repair the elements as far as i know.. might find its been damaged by the local hoodlum with a brick
and yeah your meant to declare for 3/5 years dependant on who you get your insurance with.Sealed pot challenger # 10

Yes a replacement windscreen, or even a repair, is classed as a claim as you have claimed on your insurance and must be declared as long as the policy states.
It won't affect your NCD, but may affect your premium depending on the company.0 -
I thought it only meant replace DAMAGED windscreens not faulty elements0

Don't even think about claiming for a windscreen. Years ago it was ok, now your premiums will rocket and you'll have to declare it for 5 years making it more expensive in the future. Add in a couple of real claims and you might find yourself uninsurable.0

And of course you do realise that if you damage the windscreen in order to claim then that would be classed as fraud.
Insurance is to cover the unexpected not maintenance - as your heating elements in your windscreen don't work, then this would fall under maintenance and is unlikely to be covered under the policy anway.0 -
Just checked the policy booklet (didn't see it at first because you need to download it from the website) and no it doesn't include electrical breakdown
No, I shall not be commiting fraud and breaking it myself!
From what you've said, it doesn't even seem worth claiming anyway
It's strange though that the policy booklet says 75 for replacement, 10 for repair; but my schedule shows nothing under repair excess and 10 under replacement excess0 -
Hi again, any idea how much a replacement heated windscreen for a 2002 Focus would be WITHOUT going through insurance?0
