If you go into your account and 'view gift certificate balance' it will tell you there when they expire. This is how mine looks:

    Upcoming Gift Certificate Expiries

    £5.00 on 29 Dec 2012
    £4.06 on 31 Dec 2014

They will sit in your account until you spend them or they expire.

Ahh thank you :) It says until Dec 2013 should be perfect for Xmas x Thanks again x

yes, when I first started paying by payment card it was only £2 a week, but it has jumped up. Now I am paying £5.60 a week. Direct debit is definitely the way to go!

can you stagger when your dds go out, so they are after you get paid? like a couple of days, in case you got paid late?

the only reason you would have bank charges is they take the dds out of your account and there is not enough money in your account for the dd. But if it is not paid, they will go back into your account to take the money making you overdrawn again, more bank charges.

I've been thinking about your bank charges, I think you should see the CAB. You can do it through your local children's centre, they will meet you there. And get them to write to your bank asking them to stop charging you. It is not your fault if the money does not go in on the right date, and your DDs go out. Why should you be penalised at having to pay more because you cannot pay DD?

Also they may be able to have a word with some of the people you owe money too and get them to reduce payments or write off some of what is owed. that might help a little. Hope you are feeling better, did you get to speak to the Dr yesterday?
