We love the Capilano suspension bridge on the way to Grouse Mountain. Also, Granville market for arty stuff and kids market. There's an aquarium in Stanley and of course the totem poles for photos!

We went last May at the end of a Rocky Mountains tour which was superb. We loved Vancouver and will go back there at a drop of a hat (or when we can afford to). The weather was beautiful and Vancouver is beautiful. Enjoy. We stayed at the Marriott but we found Vancouver easy to walk around.
No Matter what you do there will be critics.

We got married there in April, best place ever, can't wait to go back. We stayed in the Hampton Inn at the bottom of Robson Street, within easy walking distance of the skytrain or even walking, fantastic rooms, clean and a good breakfast with free newspapers. Rather than go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge go to Lynn Canyon - its free and scarier. Grouse Mountain great should be able to see the bears (they were asleep when we were there), Science Centre is good if you have kids as is the Aquarium. Space Centre, Stanley Park (can rollerblade or walk round or even cycle - loads of places to hire blades and cycles). Milestones on Denman - best steak ever, waiters who know what they're talking about and beautiful view over English Bay. Worth paying the money to take a waterplane over to Vancouver Island for the day. Worth driving down to Crescent Beach (about 45 minutes away) - great views over to America and islands which I really can't remember what they're called and lovely restaurants. Buses are good, get a ticket you can use on it on the skytrain as well. There is an indoor wall climbing centre which is fun. Hope you like coffee as you can't walk more than ten feet before falling over a Starbucks. The library is worth a look, based on the Colosseum. Flight was 9 and a half hours, worth a window seat just for the view when coming into land. Beautiful drive up to Whistler which has loads to do even in summer. As you can see it is my favourite place in the whole world and I can't wait to go back, unfortunately can't afford to emigrate there as its quite expensive (compared to the rest of Canada) so it'll be somewhere else in Canada for us, it has loads of Chinese/Japanese there. Has more millionnaires per square mile Downtown than anywhere else in the world apparently. The trolley bus is a good way to get your bearings and see what's what. Only one word of caution - beware of the panhandlers (beggars), they can be quite aggressive. My husband seemed to attract every nutcase down Robson Street, God knows why - he's the tightest person I know lol.
  • No one been at the Days Inn Metro?

  • Anyone? I have been looking at hotels for June but they seem a bit pricey. Any tips please for a good hotel at a good price? Thanks
