Holiday in vancouver

We're going to Vancouver this summer and would appreciate any recommendations on car hire and places to see/ stay etc. We are going for 3 weeks.

Thanks.

    So are we...

...we are staying at the Holiday Inn Downtown. We are only there for 3 days and it cost was $160 (CAD) (£64) per night. This was a special rate where cancellations are not allowed. I'm not sure if you can use Priceline in Canada but there has been lots of threads about it on MSE. I spent hours looking at different hotels but wanted one near to the Park and the main street and the cruise terminal.

It says there is also a 17% room tax per night.

Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI

i fiddled about for a long time trying to find the best car hire deal - in the end paid £750 for 4 weeks through airline network - for a large family car which got upgraded to a people carrier - with 3 kids it was a life saver.
Also we got a great deal on a house rental in kerrisdale - a trendy district just to the of the main centre and by the sea. I found it through the British Columbia website - they are houses being vacated by lecturers etc who are going away for the summer. It was only £300 per week for 5 bed/5 bath house. There is a list on https://www.bcu.ca somewhere.
You have to try the Grouse Grind - the walk up to the top of Grouse mountain. I made it 1/3 of the way up and neraly died on the spot...
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

Me and the wife are just back from 6 weeks in British Columbia.

Hired a car from https://www.wheelsabroad.com approx £600 for 6 weeks. We booked a small 4x4 and got upgraded to a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Spent 5 days in Vancouver staying in Century Plaza hotel, excellent location middle of downtown. Booked direct online with the hotel (can't remember web address but google is your friend) got a mega deal $70 per night room only.

Can't comment on Summer things to do as we were there snowboarding but Grouse Mountain is indeed a fantastic location. Had two excellent days up there with superb snow, watching sun set into Pacific then Vancouver lighting up as it got dark. Whole hill was floodlit so you could stay up there till 10pm.

I've travelled lots and this was my first time in Canada. It is the best country ever and we are seriously looking into emigrating.
