One of these parts he serviced, was it the fuel filter ? It would cause the symptoms he lists if he does not know what he is doing and fails to fill it first with fuel.
He buys a car, messes about, it goes wrong and he wants you to pay to fix his new car.
I wonder at what point will he decide he owns the car ?

would think the course of conduct amounted to harassment of the other. So if reasonable people on this forum don't consider the phone calls to be harassment, then according to the act it isn't.Before the calls had been received, the OP hadn't asked the buyer not to contact them by phone, so apart from possibly being very annoying by calling lots of times, they don't appear to have broken any law.
I have often tried to phone up businesses and when the call goes unaswered I will keep trying until I finally get to speak to someone.
Should I also be reported for harassment for this?0 -

I guess it would depend on the circumstances. But if the circumstances were that before the 20 missed called you got into a dispute with the owner, threatened them with court action, demanded money from them, angrily told them you were going to come round to their home the following day to get said money and were told by the owner never to contact them again or come to their home - yes I would consider that harassment and worthy of a call to the police. No action needs to be taken but a record of the threats would certainly assist the OP should the buyer turn up at their house.0 -
I did say the bloke I do not want him to contact me any more. It is then he left me a message telling me he is dropping the car back to me and will be demanding a full refund.
I called him back (which is when I recorded the call) and his story was very contradictory.
He has asked me to call the garage who want to charge him £900 to fix (quite why I do not know) and do I know any good car mechanics/garages! I do, but not near where he lives!
I've told him I will make these calls (explaining that I have every right to leave it all alone), but I'm going to compose a polite, but firm email.0 -
You are getting drawn into a discussion about it with him, there is nothing to discuss, you sold a car privately, it's now his car and his problem. Don't start phoning garages on his behalf, that's absolutely bonkers. All you are doing is protracting the awkward situation out further. I would just tell him to make no further contact of any kind with you and if he wants to take matters further then he needs to take legal action.
There are 2 things I certainly wouldn't do - give him any money or take the car back, you don't know what he's done to it while he's had it or more importantly what he's removed or broken himself.
You need to stop speaking to him.0 -
Good advice there from IanManc.
If the chap does turn up, ring 999 and report a breach of the peace / continuation of harassment.0 -
Just checked the dates and he bought the thing on 5th November! I didn't realise he'd had it so long!
I'll pop down the police station tomorrow.0 -
