  • How was the car advertised?

As long as there are no outrageous eBay ads. It's a case of buyer beware.
  • I think he saw the ad on Gumtree I think. It was a very accurate description of the car...

He has no comeback, if he wants a warranty he uses a dealer and pays for it. Its a common scam he's trying on.
  • As others have said he has no law available to claim under, so his chance of a winning is nil.

You sold in good faith, and it's his tough luck for not checking the car out properly.

too dangerous to drive but yet willing to "drop it off" so he spent £70 on diagnosing the problem, yet wants £200 off you for good will gesture towards the repair, but yet wants his money back for the car. the person needs to make up his mind and get his story straight, "test pilot" rings to mind and "not affording it".

call the police, tell them youve recieved 20 or something missed calls he's been irate and threatning and is threatning to comeround yours, text him him youve reported him to the police, and that he is not welcome around your house, any attempt to do so will result in hime being removed from your property via the police for harrasment and tresspass.

not really a police matter yet. 20missed calls, so what? How is that harrasment?

At the moment it isn't, but if the buyer continues to phone the OP despite being asked not to then it is harassment and should be reported to the police as such.

Sounds to me like he took his new car, failed to respect that it's not been used for a while and then hammered it all the way home........
