I'd be interested to know how Santander might approach one of their customers publicly identifying staff members on a forum, especially given the potential security implications (for both the bank and for the named staff). Certainly I'd be unwilling to keep such a customer.

Thats a really good point. I once spoke to a customer who personally insulted me, he was given 30 days to find a new bank. The OP just seems to be on some misguided crusade to cover up for their failings.

I have a special arrangement with my bank, whereby I stick to the terms of my agreement with them and they do the same with me. Seems to work OK. The strange thing is that they do not charge me anything for the service they provide apart from a bit of interest when I go into an arranged overdraft.

i see my attempt at naming and shaming was deleted. come on guys, have some balls. this is the only way we are going to win this battle. Playing them any other way is going to have a very limited effect. They are too slippery and enjoy outdoing anything these groups can do (as we have seen with them beating the OFT and now getting away with upping rates to 800,000%....why ...because they can.

Go straight for their social status. Use the power of the internet. Social status is a big part of the motivation for their activity. If they are named and shamed as losers then perhaps the ladies wont breed with them, and we can start to reduce the numbers of these scum from our gene pool.

Given that the new charges were brought about by all the people claiming back the orignal charges I don't really see we have much to complain about, perhaps they should charge everyone for the privalige of having a bank account, then they can charge say 50p for a direct debit, 50p per debit card transaction. They already charge £1 per day for an authorised overdraft and £5 per day for an unauthorised overdraft.

I wonder what else they could charge for, cheque books (if they survive), standing orders, internet banking, using a cash machine?

Why do I need to change banks, I was responding to an earlier post, and like you I only pay if I use my overdraft, and my bank don't charge for any of these things (yet:D).

Lanza, I don't give a toss if it winds you up or not. My point is that people should take responsibility for what they do. People who keep an eye on their money, and know when payments are coming out don't get charged. People who don't manage things closely and run close to limits do. It's that simple. It's easier for some however to come online and crow about how nothing is their fault.

you are like that manager in the bank who i had a hard time resisting from whacking in the face.

you are not interested in the fact the card was faulty or their system was making errors that caused it. you are not interested to google santander problems and find their system is breaking down and Botin was hauled into to the treasury select in may for a public grilling over all this.

you dont want to know these things because you like being smug and sitting at your computer telling people problems that are not their fault are. You are the type who will not listen to any information. You enjoy sitting blaming people, and that my friend says not very nice things about yourself. Hence you probably are shunned so much IRL you spend your spare time doing this.

Well it isnt going to work here. Im going for the big fish and know your type inside out. Go try and wind somebody else up.:money::T

So, is your complaint about the interest rate, or the fact that their system screwed up?

I advise prepaid cards as issued by the clydesdale bank quidiity for general groceries.

My problem was not lack of money, but that i did not like having more than a few hundred in a card im using in public systems for piffle like groceries, fuel etc.. so i would transfer from my main accounts to the debit card account.

When the santander system started messing up, it pushed me into the red, which its not "supposed" to do. Then they kicked in their loan shark scam, as posted on the news here, which i will guess some posters here i will not mention have not even read.

the prepaid credit cards dont put you in the red, because they are in tight competition, for a simple service, and people can go elsewhere. They also cant reclaim if it goes in the red. So they ensure th balance is verified, before allowing a transaction.

somehow the banks have got a mini cartel together to ensure their system allows it to go over by teeny amounts. Just a few pounds, so they can leverage hundreds out you in this scam.

I asked Marc Gander of comsumer action group if there was any bank that can be trusted, and he said no basically. They either own or copy each others techniques as long as its legal in some way, does not matter how immoral it is. Psychologists call this approach to life successful sociopathy.

I recall once sitting in a room full of people cheerleading someone who had made a fairly serious allegation. It turned into receiving about an hour's worth of personal and aggressive criticism. I stood through it, listened and offered my side, and at no point did I feel any anger or desire to hurt anyone. To whack anyone would, I guess, have been the worst possible thing I could have done. As it turned out, the other party's true behaviour was revealed within a few months and I was fine. This was an important early lesson in my adult life.

I suggest, if you get angry quickly and feel the desire to lash out, that you work on that. Any good point you have - and you do have some - will otherwise be drowned in the way you express your anger and you'll completely lose all credibility.

Can you please be clear on whether Santander debited more from your account than you instructed it to by using the card?

I don't understand what the fault is which you are describing. Is it merely the delay before some displayed balance changes which is worrying you? Or were debits being taken twice or of the wrong amount? Can you provide any links to information?
