Setting Up Car Boot

Comments

  • Surely this would then be a yard sale / table top sale, but almost certainly NOT a car boot sale????

    Thanks for the replies.

Yes that's right. Sorry is there a difference legally etc? Yes local people bring their junk and setup a table/stall. I can see that working on small amount of land.

They will still be coming in cars though so you would need to address the issue of parking and access.

I sometimes pay to sell at a dedicated indoor venue- not a car boot. However I would still expect to carry several pre packed stock boxes and display shelves etc and couldn't do it without a car. So if you have a venue that is on foot only you will get two or three immediate neighbours and that's it.

I love the Canadian 'garage sale' idea- went to loads out in Canada and the States but again they worked purely because people didn't have to transport it all, they were already at home. I miss garage sales....

    Hi

I may be buying some land that is currently someone's back garden. I want to have a car boot there.

How do you go about it. What permits are required? Other advice please.

Not a chance in hell of that happening other than as a one off. The council will do impact assessments on traffic, safety for access and the residents are likely to have a lot to say about it as well.

There's a reason most car boot sales are either in a field out of town or in places like sport stadium car parks.

  • On a serious note- what's the best way forward. 12 times a year- first Sunday of each month between 2 and 5pm?

If I change the "use of land". What's best to apply for?
