Size of wooden battens and costing?

Hi all,
I’m placing celotex insulation over solid walls, battening over this and then placing plasterboard on top. I was wondering what size battens I should use? and the approximate costing per metre.
Google seems to provide contradictory information. I'm using 50mm insulation and 12mm plasterboard. The Walls are approximately 4.6m in length.
I appreciate any help/advice.
Thanks

Hi JustJohn, I've looked online and the general opinion is that you insulate and then batten.

Apologies, I also forgot to mention that these are external walls if this has any influence with regard to maintaining an air gap.0 -
Yes John, you are right. I'm going to be using GA4000. I've read so much on the insulation procedure but there is little info on the battening, which is the simple part i assume...0

From PDF: " Battens should be minimum 50mm x 25mm treated softwood"0 -

Probably about £1.70 for a 2.4metre length (b&q)0 -

2x1 inch, less than a pound per m. at wickes.
(80p ish).Get some gorm.0 -
for 2.4 high walls, I would use 2x1 battens fixed at 400 centres, you will need to use a minimum of 5x 4" screws per batten and make sure you knock the wall plug well into the brickwork and not just the plaster.:eek:0
