Changing user name

I have messages the mods four times as I'm desperate to change my username, nobody has replied, not even to say it can't be done. What am I doing wrong?

If someone could tell me who to contact I'd be really grateful. Other users seem to have contacted them and had their name changed the next day but I don't seem to get an answer.

I have suggested alternatives and searched to check they are not already in use.

I'd really appreciate some advice.

If it's such an issue, why not just register with a new name?
